Williams Dirks Dameron Obtains Final Settlement Approval of Data Breach Class Action

Williams Dirks Dameron and its co-counsel McShane & Brady obtained final approval of a data breach class action lawsuit.
The firms filed the lawsuit against a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility after an employee of the facility left the campus with a laptop containing sensitive patient information. The employee went shopping and left the laptop in her vehicle unattended; the laptop was stolen. The laptop contained sensitive personal and health information for over 40,000 patients.
The lawsuit was filed in Missouri state court and the Court granted final approval of the settlement earlier this month. The settlement encompassed over 40,000 class members across the United States.
