Williams Dirks Dameron Investigates Ford Ecoboost Coolant Leak

2013-2019 Ford Escape, Fusion, and Edge Coolant Leak and Engine Overheating

Williams Dirks Dameron is investigating complaints concerning coolant leak in 1.5L and 2.0L Ford Ecoboost engines in the following vehicles:

  • 2013-2019 Ford Escape

  • 2013-2019 Ford Fusion

  • 2015-2018 Ford Edge

  • 2017-2019 Lincoln MKC

  • 2017-2019 Lincoln MKZ

The alleged defect causes coolant / antifreeze to leak into the engine’s cylinders and possibly cause overheating. Many consumers report that the defect causes total engine failure and requires replacement of the engine block.

Consumers report blue or white smoke coming from the engine, or their vehicles misfiring because of the leak. Some consumers report a check engine light activating.

According to a Bulletin issued by Ford, common diagnostic codes associated with the defect include P0316 and P0302. Although Ford is aware of the issue, it has not issued a recall for the vehicles, even though it previously recalled similar model vehicles for the same problem.
